FREQUENTLY ASKED
QUESTIONS
Do you host multiple events at the same time?
We can, however, we make sure to only schedule one wedding at a
time. We might have an afternoon wedding and an evening wedding the
same day.
Can I rent out the entire plantation?
Yes, you can rent Nottoway for a day or weekend with the exception
of the restaurant.
Can I extend my reception time?
Yes, we can add time to your event. There will be a charge and a fee
if extra food and beverages are required.
What if I don't want a
full open bar?
Nottoway requires that the package remain as is on a Saturday night.
However, we can reduce or remove the open bar from the package at
off-peak times.
Am I responsible for the rooms not reserved in my room block?
No, we give you a cut-off date prior to your event, giving us ample
time to sell the rooms to another guest. You are not responsible.
What time can I get into the bridal dressing room on the day of
my wedding?
Whatever time works for you. We are flexible.
Can I change the menu, or am I stuck with the options in the
package?
We are happy to customize the menu to suit your needs or wedding
theme. Our Chef can sit with you to finalize the menu for your big
day.
Can I request specialty drinks for the bar?
If you would like to request a certain beverage option on the bar,
we will make every effort to fulfill your request. Advance notice on
specialty bar items is appreciated.
Can the white ballroom seat all of my guests for a ceremony?
No. We will set up about 10-15 chairs for parents, grandparents and
elderly guests and the rest will be standing room only.
Do you have vendors with whom I can work?
We do not provide any outside vendors, however, we can suggest area
vendors to you that we have worked with over the years.
Does Nottoway have someone available the day of the wedding to make
sure everything is on time?
Yes, you will be assigned an event coordinator to assist you in
finalizing the details of your event and who will work at the
wedding. You will also be assigned a banquet captain to oversee the
reception.
How far in advance do I need to book?
We suggest booking as soon as you have made a decision. We book
weddings up to 2 years in advance, and do not hold dates without a
deposit and contract. If there is a specific date you have in mind,
we suggest you don't hesitate.
How many servers will be at my wedding?
For served dinners, we assign 1 waitstaff for every 20 guests. For
buffet style, we assign 1 waitstaff for every 35 guests.
Is it possible to have multiple events, such as my rehearsal dinner,
at Nottoway and not use the same room?
Yes, we can host your engagement party, bridal luncheon, rehearsal
dinner, wedding after party and farewell brunch and never be in the
same location twice.
Is there a hotel nearby for overflow guests who aren't staying at
Nottoway?
Yes, there are several nearby hotels at which you could establish a
room block once Nottoway is sold out. Please inquire with your event
coordinator.
What do I need to do to book my date?
We require you to sign a contract and pay a non-refundable $1,000
deposit.
What does the ceremony fee include?
The ceremony fee includes use of the grounds, chairs rental with
set-up and tear down. One hour is allotted for a rehearsal run
through.
What if it rains and I have an outdoor ceremony?
We always reserve a backup location in case of inclement weather.
Typically the White Ballroom would serve as your backup ceremony
location.
What is the security fee for?
Security is required for all weddings. It is $25 per hour, and is
required for 1/2 an hour before and after the event.
Will there be a time that I can sample the food I'll be serving my
guests?
Yes, we allow the bride and groom a complimentary tasting to help
you decide what you would like to serve your guests.
